What does your Endothelium have to do with Erectile Dysfunction?  It seems ALOT!

It’s the last day of the year and as I sit here reflecting on what was a beautiful season, I can’t help but think how great it was to be “home for the holidays” this year.  I had such a wonderful time catching up with many friends and loved ones in the comfort of my own home (something we have not been able to experience since December 2019)  Grateful for the downtime…but I must confess I probably watched a little too much TV during this season!

COMMERCIALS!  Who says you can’t learn from watching TV?  QUESTION…what’s with all these erectile dysfunction commercial?  Viagra this…Cialis that…Levitra…Stendra…  This must be a BIG problem or a BIG business…or possibly both.   AND now there’s this “new kid in town” … SHOCKWAVE THERAPY to reduce ED! Really?  I have no idea what this is all about and if it even works, but I do know something that does!  It can be quite easy and affordable!  It’s as simple as changing your diet…doing away with the western (American) diet and embracing a whole food/plant based diet!

Let’s talk for a moment about your endothelium (a thin membrane that lines the inside of the heart and blood vessels)  A healthy endothelium is smooth, allowing blood to flow freely carrying oxygen and nutrients to every part of your body.  When your endothelium gets sticky…all hell breaks loose!  It has been scientifically proven that long term consumption of the “western diet” contributes to endothelial dysfunction.  The damage is low nitric oxide which will create not only problems such as ED but high blood pressure, inflammation, premature aging, hypertension, depression, high LDL cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and increased risks of many cancers.  Nobody wants all that, right?  According to Dr. Michael Greger, NutritionFacts.org,  “plant based diets have a direct beneficial effect on endothelium function.

I cannot believe I will be celebrating year two of whole food/plant based living in February.   I will admit, some days are not easy and I have gotten off track many times…but getting back on it does get a little easier each time.  I am constantly amazed at how good I feel, how well I sleep and just basically enjoying life!  This is something I am truly passionate about.  I have seen the results over and over in my clients.  It just works!

If you are interested in living your best life and making big lifestyle changes in the new year, but just don’t know where to begin, I would first encourage you to watch “Fork Over Knives”, the documentary.  It’s an hour and a half well spent!  You can find it on youtube or on the website www.forkoverknives.com.  Secondly,  if you feel like this is something you are serious about, I would love to work with you and watch you start enjoying life to its fullest!  To sign up, contact me through my website, www.simplynourishedbymartha.com

So, here’s to YOU!  Wishing you a beautiful and bright 2022 surrounded with all the good health and LOVE you can stand!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Love,

Martha
